good board games for adults?

Brittney Inabnit:

Branden Roddick: 1

Emerita Sciandra: BackgammonSequenceSuper Scrabble (or regular Scrabble)MancalaTrivial Pursuit (any edition!)YahtzeeBogglePass the PigsChinese Checkers...Show more

Cyndy Grimes: Start with Ticket to Ride. Then graduate to Settlers of Catan. If you like those and want something even more challenging, check out BoardGameGeek.

Jodie Capella: That would depend in part on whether you intend to eventually get the improved 2-weapon feats. While you don't have to qualify statwise for 2WF, you might for the advanced feats (don't recall offhand and don't have books handy). As a 2WF, you definitely want Strength well above-average. Probably at least a 14, 16 is better. 18 probably out of reach without seriously nerfing other stats. If you want to skill-monkey, you also want a fair Intelligence. Probably want 12 there, 14 might be pushing it, especially as you're human. If spell use secondary, might get by with a 11-12 Wisdom! to start (tho you'll probably want to get it to 14 eventually to be able to use your highest-level spells.)Constitution you'll probably not be able to have as high as you'd like, but I'd hesitate to drop it any lower than 12. Same with Dexterity, tho if you can manage to squeeze to 13 or 14, all the better.Charisma the probable dump stat unless you plan to do a lot of animal calming (tho a high Animal Handling can help offset a low Charisma.)...Show more

Bryant Pillitteri: payday is fun monopoly yahtzeeoh god theres heaps!

Bob Pucella: Have you tried go? It's a great strategy game for 2.Then there is Tikal 2-4 players, Citizen news 2-6 players.

Joellen Zorrilla: im big on skills and am willing to sacrifice spells.

Jose Bouliouris: Personally I play both Chaos Space Marines and Imperial Guard. I'd always vote for Imperial Guard, their starting battleforces for both Cadians and Catachan's are brilliant, though the Cadian one gives more bang for your m! oney. Tau, and Imperial Guard armies rely on ranged combat how! ever to win battles. If you preferred a more melee combat style then Orks or Tyranids would be better. (and you get perfect value for orks in the 40K starter kit, plus loads of space marines to resell to people.) The Tyranid battleforce is also good value for money to points ratio. The main problem you will face with 40K is that most tournament armies are space marines or chaos space marines. (about 60-70% of players) so build an army to kill space marines and you can literally win any battle. Meltaguns, imperial guard storm troopers, tau vespid stingwings, or Crisis battlesuits, are all examples of marine killing squads. On another note about imperial guard armies it is possible now to build armies entirely of veteran squads... making the army only 20-60 normal men. Whereas a full platoon of non veteran guardsmen starts at 25 men and can go up to 147 men. (for one troops choice.) With Imperial guard commanders you are spoilt for choice. You can take a company command squad! with regimental advisors (lots of cool special rules there.) Or you could take either a Primaris Psyker (very nice ranged psychic power) or a Lord Commissar. (essentially makes your units harder to break in battle.)Most games rely on the Standard Force Organisation Chart, which requires 1 HQ unit and 2 Troops units. (note that only troop units an control objectives so most armies have 4 troop units for tournament play minimum. Or 3 really big squads.) As a Guard army a lot of people prefer one huge platoon and a squad of veterans to round out their army. Personally I prefer Veterans, two squads of storm troopers, a Company Command Squad and a Primaris Psyker. (i have one of the 1st edition ones!) aside from that I'm looking at adding some tanks and possibly building a primary infantry platoon. For non troop units there are plenty of elite units to choose from Orgyrns are the exception to most guard armies as they are designed for melee combat first and ranged combat is sec! ondary for them. Ratling snipers are perfect for slowing down massed in! fantry formations. Storm troopers excel at everything. but are best for removing space marines or infiltrating the enemy formations and tank busting with melta guns. Guardsman Marbo is a one man kill squad. For Fast Attack you have hellhound tank patterns, Valkyrie or Vendetta gunships (really cool models.) Sentinel scout or armoured variants. and lets not forget Rough Riders (cavalry) For Heavy Support you have many types of Leman russ tanks, Anti-aircraft Hydra's (an Eldar or Dark Eldar players nightmares come true.) many types of Artillery platforms and the dreaded Deathstrike Missile Launcher. (I am planning on one of these just for kicks.) Expanding your army for Apocalypse games is very easy too, just add one Baneblade or equivalent super heavy tank as a centerpiece and add some formation rules to your existing army and you are literally there. Most tournament sized games are 1750 points to 1850 points in Australia. If you have any further questions please email me at! angelicsavior@yahoo.com I am very glad to assist you....Show more

Jonathon Labonne: You got some very good answers above me, the thing is that more information about what a good game means to YOU would be helpful. Do you want something with a lot of strategy and thinking? A quick game? Something unusual? Something that will make you laugh? Something where you don't have to think a lot? We play games for a lot of different reasons, it would be improper of me to tell you what YOUR reasons are.The best strategy game is Go, and you can learn it in 10 minutes, but expect to have to play it for 5 years before you are even sort of competent. "BattleLore" is a very new game where you simulate battles from the Middle Ages including use of Magic, it is highly rated and a lot of fum. "Twilight Struggle" is a game about the Cold War, you'll learn a lot of post WW2 history if you're into that sort of thing.A bit on the easier side you might try "Lost Cities", a card game where yo! u try to finish "expeditions" before your opponent.Still too hard? Try ! Yahtzee, a quick dice game that is mostly luck but has some scope for decision making.Like word games? Not my thing, but you can't beat scrabble. Be sure you have a dictionary handy...............Show more

Arlen Lopiccalo: I love both TTR and Settlers, but I don't think they're at their best as 2 player games. Here's some good 2 players to get you started:Lost Cities - 2 player onlyBalloon Cup - 2 player onlyTally Ho! - 2 player onlyCathedral - 2 player onlySettlers of Catan: Card Game - 2 player only10 Days in (Africa, Europe, Asia, USA) - better with 3 or 4Memoir '44 - 2 player onlyPick Picknik - better with 3 or 4Kings in the Corner - good with 2, playable up to 4Kazink!- good with 2, playable up to 4Touche!- good with 2, playable up to 4Sequence- good with 2, playable up to 4Blokus - best with 4, look for the travel version for solid 2 playerIngenious - good from 1 to 4 players...Show more

Zora Mazzie: i have a few deal or no deal monopoly uno really fun ca! rds

Riley Migl: I t really depends on the GM/DM. If the GM has a generious nature, or is more into a good story then guts and horror, then i would go with Classic stats, High Dexterity, high Wisdom/ I like HIgh Chirisma, because of the Diplomacy/Bulff/ and chirisma based skills, but it ain't manditory. You got to have the reflex/ and fortitude save maxed out. Its a Ranger. If its a kill you character DM/ don't even worry about it to much just see what you can get away with. YOu might want to check out the feats. I heard also that Gestalt is a fun thing to play if you can get the DM to let you....Show more

Inez Relihan: The best game of all time has to be Monopoly... Either modern editions, or 1970's, 1950's, or even going back to the original made by Parker Brothers, in the 1930's, still has that game of fun and you can play with 2 or More players...

Ollie Hamiel: I think you have to go with your heart rather than common sense. I mean, it's just a game aft! er all and it's easier to start with a collection you feel enthusiastic! about.Tau fight almost entirely at long range btw - fast vehicles but poor close combat.

Marylee Lucks: No, you won't be able to unblock pop-ups on a library computer. At least not at any library I am familiar with.

Travis Colomb: apples to apples

Curtis Josef: Hi I am a grown adult male that is new to 40K after being introduced (my father in-law has played since the 80's) I was wondering what army would be the easiest for the average non experienced gamer. I was leaning towards imperial guard or tau but that was just based upon the look of the figures. also which battleforce set seems the most well rounded to begin an army off of? thank you

Gwenda Micheals: Well, from my own experience:Imperial Guard are cool if you like lots of infantry and lots of vehicles... and lots of modeling and painting (i.e. lots of work). The Imperial Guard relies on superior numbers in both men and materiel to win the day.The average trooper is nothing special, equipped ! only with a lasgun and flak armor (that's a "flashlight and a t-shirt" in WH40K circles), but they're very cheap points-wise so you can (and must) field a lot of them.Leman Russ battle tanks and Hellhound flamethrower tanks are the $h!t. They look cool and it's fun to blast stuff to pieces and set stuff on fire with them (Tau players in particular hate and fear the Hellhound as the super-heated fuel fired from it's spout ignores both cover and Fire Warrior body armor). And because Imperial Guard infantry are so cheap, you can have plenty of both.Imperial Guard are good army if you like having lots of options (they have all kinds of different units and equipment) and you like their WW1 - WW2 feel. The Tau have cool, sleek looking models and a fully painted combat force looks good.Rules wise, Fire Warriors have the best standard firearm in the game: the pulse rifle. Their combat armor is good to, though not as good as Space Marine power armor (and their marksmanship isn't a! s good as Space Marines either). If you can keep your enemy at range, ! concentrated pulse rifle fire will maul his troops. Their other stuff (Hammerhead tanks, Crises Suits, etc) tend to follow that same the basic theme: overwhelming firepower. The catch is that Tau Fire Warriors are next to useless in hand to hand combat - if you allow your opponent to close with them, they're apt to get slaughtered. You'll probably want to field a few Kroot mercenary squads (who ARE good at hand to hand combat) to back them up.Tau are good if you like to shoot a lot and like slick technology and options. For all things WH40K, check out this site:http://www.40konline.com/community/index.php?actio...It's a great place to talk, discuss and ask advice about all things WH40K.Good luck and good gaming."Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn."...Show more

Willis Liburd: Best 40k Army

Kirk Coolbeth: I think if you hold the CTRL key when you click the link.. it will authorize the pop-up window.

Francis Stickle: Well it's not actually a b! oard game, but if it's with your mate I would suggest twister. That always makes an interesting evening. If not with your mate maybe checkers, scrabble, connect four, heck even battle ship, Me and my husband love playing battle ship together. I like it because I always win, heheheh.

Joaquin Dronko: Checkers
