Is renting a house a good idea?

Mickey Isle: If you decide you don't like it, than move out when your lease is up. Also, you don't have to fix anything broken unless you break it. the cons are you don't own it. All the money you put into the home will be wasted money. Sometime you have dic** for landlords that come over when you're not expecting it to look around. If you decide to wanted to stay another year, they can raise rent. You can't do anything without permission. They almost always find a reason to keep the deposit. You take the good and the bad. I bought a home when I turned 18 and ended up hating it. I didn't like the neighbors, the schools, nearby stores..anything. It took me four years to sell it. I decided to rent for a a bit and I like it. When I get sick of the same place, I move to another. I refuse to settle with a house. I'll buy when I find the right home....Show more

Rick Duchane: In my opinion stay in the apartment until you've saved for the house you really want. I have relat! ives that have put thousands into renting properties that will never be theirs. Where I live for example, one of my cousins rented a house for $1200 a month not including water, light and cable. There apartment was around $ 500 a month with some amenities paid for. He had enough savings to put a good down payment on a house. He decided to just rent a house instead and keep the money for something else. This means he's paying $700 more a month for a house he didn't really need and will never own. Yes there's less liability, a person can have a contract for a year & back out of the lease, but your rolling the dice on having a decent landlord. Save your money for a good down payment, look for that house that suits your NEEDS in a good area town, get a low interest home loan locked in (make sure it doesn't fluctuate with the market). If there is a college close to where you live...look into free programs that help new homeowners. They're usually run by graduating students enter! ing the fields of real estate and business anyway. GOOD LUCK s! tay patient....Show more
