What are the best sites for accurate DNA genealogy?

Jose Bouliouris: Those site may help but some will not like to know and will be suprise so if you get upset what in your bloodline you should not check it,,,Sometime this is the only way that can help. That is if you really want to know...http://www.dnatribes.com/?y-dthttp://www.dnaancestryproject.com/?OVRAW…http://www.pathway.com/...Show more

Adrian Paraz: It is according to what you want to accomplish. There are 3 types of DNA.Y which is passed from father to son.Mitochondrial which is passed from mother to both sons and daughters but only the daughters pass it on to their children.Autosomal which you get 50-50 from both parents. However when you get back to your grandparents it will not be 25-25-25-25. You get 50% from your paternal grandparents and 50% from your maternal grandparents. However it will not be an even breakdown of what you received from your grandmother and your grandfather on both sides of the family. How you inherited this bias will not be how yo! ur siblings inherited it unless you have an identical twin.If you are involved in genealogy Y & Mitochondrial can be very helpful enabling you to match yourself with others and their family trees. The oldest company involved in this type of testing ishttp://www.FamilyTreeDNA.ComNow understand that Y & Mitochondrial are a very small part of your DNA and represent a very tiny part of your total ancestry. One company that only does Y & Mitochondrial advertises they will help you "discover your deep ancestral roots." It is true in those 2 lines only they will assign you to a Haplogroup based on your DNA and show you the origin of you nomadic ancestors going back thousands of year. However, you come from a vast myriad of family lines. For instance if you get back to your 16 great great grandparents, having both Y & Mitochondrial done will leave out 14 of them.Autosomal is too complicated to use for family history, but if your purpose is to get a somewhat view of your ethnic back! grounds, there is one company that will take your Autosomal DN! A and match you with population groups throughout the world. They will show you your top 20 matches in descending order. How accurate this is. I am not an expert but I found very little to question in my own Autosomal tests. I can see if more than one company does this type of testing the results could vary as one company might have population samples the other didn't. You have to understand the same DNA crosses national, racial and ethnic boundaries and there are no pure nationalities, races or ethnicities. The only company I know of that does this ishttp://www.DNATribes.ComNow I had a question about Autosomal testing which I asked on the Biology board as Genealogy and Genetics are not the same thing and I had found a website that stated you don't get Autosomal 50-50 from both parents and this is the reply I received:"Actually, you do inherit your autosomal DNA 50-50 from each parent. That site is wrong."Your mother's egg contributes one set of 22 autosomes and one sex chro! mosome (an X). Your father's sperm contributes the other set of 22 autosomes, and another sex chromosome (either an X or a Y)."Where the 50-50 part breaks down is when you pass on your DNA to your children. Each of your children will get half their DNA from you, but they won't necessarily get an equal mix of what you inherited from your parents. They could inherit a more from your mother, through you, and less from your father, or vice versa."Another way to look at it: you inherited 50% of your autosomal DNA from each parent, but you didn't necessarily inherit exactly 25% from each grandparent. Your maternal grandparents contributed exactly 50% in total, but it could be biased in favor of either your maternal grandmother or your maternal grandfather. Same goes for your paternal grandparents."When you take one of those DNA tests, which markers they find depend on which ones you inherited through your mother and father, and that will be different between you and your siblings! (assuming no identical twins). If one of your grandparents is Dutch, a! nd another is Polish, you might happen to inherit more markers that the test considers NW Eur., and your sister might happen to inherit more that are considered E Eur. In most cases, that will just be a random chance. Also, just because you have more markers that the test considers NW Eur, doesn't necessarily mean you really are "more" NW Eur. in any real sense."Source(s):PhD in molecular biology"I asked DNATribes if my sister with whom I share both parents had the same Autosomal tests would her results be the same and they replied:"Two siblings will each obtain unique results. Family members do typically share some regional or ethnic genetic affiliations, but in some cases matches can vary substantially between siblings."I also asked DNATribes if they could break down my results from each of my parents and they replied:"To isolate each parent's genetic contribution in each case, it is necessary to test at least one parent as well."Now FamilyTreeDNA does do Autosomal testin! g but they will not provide you with any analysis of their results. I had to send my results from them to DNATribes....Show more

Hermina Ketring: Overall, the best is www.familytreedna.com. They do the DNA testing for the National Geographics Genotype Program. It is the one I used to verify the papertrail for my genealogy, which includes every single country in Europe, parts of the Middle East, one from Africa. The DNA tests went far beyond that, to more than 30 countries in Africa, China, Japan, Viet Nam, the Philippines and on and on.This is not "cut and paste", but my answer. If you have ancestors primarily from Africa, or the Orient, or Native Americans, there are sites that deal with those more than Family Trees.Of course, Ancestry.com and the other major genealogy sites also offer DNA testing. It is just what do you want; the truth or something else....Show more

Willa Holte: No the outcomes at the instant are not a hundred% precise. Genetic relatives tree i! s an exceedingly new technological know-how and new discoveries are bei! ng made right now. Then lots relies upon on which employer he examined with. 3 of the main respected relatives tree DNA attempting out companies are: FamilyTree DNA, 23 and Me and Ancestry DNA. The national Geographic Geno 2.0 try is amazingly solid for estimating ethnic breakdown yet has little fee for cutting-edge relatives tree. the different companies have critically various effects which will or is probably not precise. The 5% Asian possibly shows interior reach American. remember which you and your brother each and every inherit form of 50% of you DNA from each and every discern. yet not inevitably a similar 50%.
