How does a person become an Art Therapist?

Damion Oleksa: Typically to become an Art Therapist you need to have a double major in Art and Psychology. From there, you need to do a PhD in the Psychology practice of your choice... I have heard of the profession of Art Therapy, but it is very hard to come by this degree program. University of San Francisco does not have this degree (from the last time I checked), but definitely try SFSU. Having a degree in visual arts is okay, but keep in mind that for therapy you need to have at least 4 years education in psychology before you can start practicing it legally....Show more
